Are proud to announce that their volunteers offer a little FREE help at home to those in need NOW!

It took a little time organising HAH Costa Blanca to comply with all the red tape that is required to become a legal organisation.  Norah Bond President HAH Costa Blanca stated that we have a great team of volunteers who are prepared to work FREE, which is amazing in these times of economic crisis, these fantastic people want to help those in need of all ages and all nationalities within a 15 km radius of Torrevieja.   Norah is so proud and says a big thank you to every volunteer in the team of HAH Costa Blanca, without you we would not be able do offer this important service, which will undoubtedly give peace of mind to many people who feel unsure whether to stay in Spain or not as they get older.
Moving to a foreign country on retirement is a brave step to take, it is ok when you have a partner, sadly as time goes by, one passes away, has a stroke, becomes very ill or falls, breaking a hip or leg, we know that we have to act fast and to this aim, we felt the best way forward to offer a professional service was to

Lorca

Following this week’s devastating earthquake in Lorca, the Orihuela Town Hall has issued details of its own emergency plan should a similar seismic event occur within the municipality. The Emergency Coordinator at the Town Hall, Jesus Rodriguez, said: “Orihuela, lies on a fault line that runs straight through the southeast of Spain and that is the same fault line that has led to the recent earthquake in Lorca. This is one of the most active faults lines in Spain and is known as the Lorca-Alhama and Totana fault line. It is located on the southern boundary of the Eurasian Plate and is very close to the boundary of collision between the Eurasian and African plates. ”This places Orihuela right on the fault line and within a major seismic activity zone. THREE MEN ARRESTED FOR AN ALLEGED CRIME OF ROBBERY WITH VIOLENCE AND INTIMIDATION

On 12th April, at about 22:20 hours, officers from the Policia Local in Orihuela Costa, received a 112 call informing them that a woman had been violently assaulted near her home in the Urbanisation Castillo de Don Juan, in the area of Las Filipinas. It is alleged that the woman was attacked by three men, one of whom was carrying a knife. They threatened her and stole her mobile phone and some cash. They then fled in a vehicle and headed towards the N332. Local residents were immediately on the scene and got a good description of the car in which the assailants were travelling. They gave the details to the Local Police and a patrol spotted the vehicle and gave chase. A second vehicle was also in support and soon the car was stopped. The occupants of the vehicle were identified as being Moroccan natives, currently living in nearby Pilar de la Horadada. Once it had been confirmed that the men fitted the description given by the victim, one arrest was made immediately but two of the men fled from the police on foot. One of the men was caught and arrested and the other was later located by Guardia Civil officers and in woodland near Campoamor. Once at the Guardia Civil Station in Torre de la Horadada, it emerged that they were in possession of three stolen mobile phones, two stolen wallets containing documentation, a screw driver and a knife that was allegedly used in the robbery. The Seat Ibiza they used to flee the scene of the crime was seized by the Local Police and the men were charged with various offences.
